Mahindra Rolls Out XEV 9S Suspension Update After Owner Field Testing

Mahindra has begun rolling out a suspension update for the XEV 9S after conducting field testing directly with owners. Santosh Kumar, an XEV 9S Pack 3 Above owner from Hyderabad who was part of the initial test group, shared his experience with us.

According to Santosh, the ride quality on the XEV 9S — particularly on the Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above variants — had been a significant concern among owners since delivery, a sentiment echoed widely across owner communities and online reviews.

In April, this collective feedback was shared directly with Mahindra. The company responded by deploying their FAST Team — Field Action Support Team — for suspension tuning. The team spent one to two days per vehicle with owners who had raised concerns, evaluating and fine-tuning the suspension setup. After testing across multiple cars, they arrived at a common optimized configuration.

Santosh's car was among the first batch to receive the updated setup. "The difference is night and day," he says. "Post-update, the ride quality has improved drastically. Having driven both the 7XO and the Harrier EV myself, I can confidently say the XEV 9S is now on par with, or very close to, that level of comfort."

Mahindra is now extending this update to more XEV 9S owners across the country, with a wider rollout to all eligible Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above owners planned.

Which Variants Are Eligible

The XEV 9S is offered in four variants — Pack 1 Above, Pack 2 Above, Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above. Only the Pack 3 and Pack 3 Above get semi-adaptive suspension, which can be tuned through software. The Pack 1 Above and Pack 2 Above come with passive suspension and will not receive this update.

According to Santosh, Mahindra is also actively working on suspension fine-tuning for the BE 6 and XEV 9e, both of which also feature semi-adaptive suspension on select variants.

Mahindra has not officially confirmed these details. We have reached out to them for a comment.
