Kia Syros EV Specs Revealed: Two Battery Packs, 526km Range, Lifetime Warranty

Featured image for Kia Syros EV Specs Revealed: Two Battery Packs, 526km Range, Lifetime Warranty

Kia's official brochure for the Syros EV has surfaced ahead of launch, revealing the full specification sheet for the brand's upcoming electric SUV. Pricing has not been announced yet, but the brochure confirms battery options, range, motor output, charging capability, dimensions, and the five variants the car will be offered in.

Battery, Range and Motor

The Syros EV will come with two battery pack options. The Standard Range pack is 42kWh, rated for 443km on the ARAI MIDC full cycle, and pairs with a 99kW (135PS) motor. The Extended Range pack is 51.4kWh, rated for 526km, and steps up to a 126kW (171PS) motor. Peak torque across the range is rated at 255Nm. Both packs use NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) cell chemistry, and the Syros EV shares its battery pack with the Kia Carens Clavis EV.

Charging

Kia is claiming a best-in-class DC fast charging time of 39 minutes for a 10-80% charge on a 100kW charger. On AC charging, an 11kW three-phase wall box charger takes the Extended Range pack from 10-100% in 4 hours 50 minutes, and the Standard Range pack in 4 hours. A 7.4kW single-phase wall box or portable charger takes 7 hours 15 minutes and 6 hours respectively. The car uses the CCS2 charging standard with a side-mounted charging port, and Kia lists a 10.8kW onboard AC charging capacity — enough to draw close to the full output of an 11kW charger.

Dimensions and Variants

The Syros EV measures 3,995mm in length, 1,805mm in width, and 1,670mm in height, on a 2,550mm wheelbase. It rides on 17-inch wheels with the Extended Range pack and 16-inch wheels with the Standard Range pack, with McPherson strut suspension up front and a coupled torsion beam axle at the rear, and disc brakes on all four wheels.

Five variants will be offered: HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and X-Line. HTK+ and HTX are available with either battery pack, while HTK is offered only with the Standard Range pack, and HTX+ and X-Line only with the Extended Range pack. Depending on variant, the car gets features like a 30-inch panoramic display, a Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connected features, ADAS Level 2 with 16 autonomous safety features (X-Line only), a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and access to Kia's K-Charge network covering over 20,000 charging points across 23 charge point operators.

The Warranty Angle

The standout detail in the brochure is on warranty. Alongside the standard 3-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty (extendable to 5), Kia is offering a lifetime warranty (15 years) on the Syros EV's high-voltage battery for the first owner. Second owners get 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first. This is notable because it applies to an NMC battery pack, not the more commonly used LFP chemistry that budget EVs typically pair with lifetime battery warranty assurances — making it a first for Kia in India, and among the first such commitments on an NMC pack for mid budget electric vehicles.

With the brochure now public, all that remains before launch is pricing.
