New EV Query

Your Big car SUV as EV or ICE?

I want to buy a new car selling one of my cars.
Swift VDI 2011. 1.3 Lakh kM done & Renault Kiger 1L RXZ AMT.

Currently planning to sell Swift And had booked Punch.EV Empowered +S LR with 1L down payment.

After the Sierra announcement want to cancel the booking of Punch and decide now after the Sierra launch.

Want to understand from others if their primary Car for outstation or Long drives is an EV and thought process behind?

Bro, if you are looking for EV as a primary car. Then waiting for Sierra makes sense. Reason - 1. You can do highway trips with Punch as well but it requires a bit of planning 2. With a car like Sierra, trips up to 350-400 kms should not need any planning.

All you need is 10 minutes of planning for any outstation road trip. From outside it may look daunting but once you actually do it you'll see it is very simple. Sierra will be a very good option. Lets wait for the details and then you can make an informed decision.

I have tata punch EV.Punch can only give you a range of about 250 kms on highway but requires planning. For a primary car I would urge you to pls wait for tata sierra and mahindra XEV9S which is about 2-3 weeks time. Hold on to that booking pls. What you need is range on highway not anxiety 🙂

He hardly drove the Swift for 9k kms an year .. 700 kms in a month, he surely isn't considering that one for highway drives .. He surely seems to be testing the waters with the Punch LR

Well, a lot of things together Punch is a good replacement to your Swift and Sierra or a similar or higher battery capacity EV for your Kiger. If you wish to replace the Swift, Punch LR is a good choice. If you wish to get better VFM, go for the Nexon EV 45 as comes with a Life time Warranty (15yrs) for the battery with unlimited kms. As far as the planning of long intercity trips is concerned, after about 2-3 trips you won't even require 10 mins to plan. It embibes into our systems. Something one may only realise after owning and experiencing an EV.

I feel primary car shouldn't be an EV, range anxiety is real when you travel to a far distance.
