India is NOT Ready for EVs

The latest Venom Tech video clearly shows why India is not ready for EVs. They cannot produce cells or batteries on their own and do not know how to fix them if an issue arises. The automobile laws are shady which anyways offer little protection to customers and companies take full advantage of such cases.

How can a car need multiple charging for a 500 kilometer trip when the car claims to give more range than that. Dehradun sits higher than Delhi, doesn't driving towards a lower elevation help EV? I have seen on on many forums, consumers complaining about the battery and how opaque companies behave when asked to show a battery report. Why hide when you have not done anything wrong? Isn't this suspicious behavior? Why are there no laws at present which mandate the companies to show battery health and performance. If I have paid for a product which I completely own, I should be made aware of everything. Unless these issues are solved, EVs will not stay in India for long. Hybrids are the future. Either you can accept it or live in denial because you committed a mistake in purchasing one and now justifying it.

I agree with you. Current owners are justifying their purchase because no one likes to be proven wrong. Everyone believes they always take the right decision and they have the most knowledge. It is human nature. EVs exist because of compliance and nothing else. Take away CAFE norms and EVs will cease to exist in portfolios of OEMs.

Crunchy Roll Spot on. Companies are making EVs because they are forced to not because they actually believe in the tech. Even Elon Musk recognizes this hence moving to space expeditions with Tesla. He himself mentioned Tesla's future is not EVs. He knows adoption will decrease.

I had finalized XEV 9S. After watching his latest video even I am contemplating whether to go ahead with an EV purchase. What if the battery of my car is faulty as well. If they are unwilling to show me the battery report as you mentioned, it does raise suspicion.

Aarush I told you before as well. Do not go ahead with EV purchase. I myself decided against buying a 9s. If the company is so rude and complacent to a known personality then imagine customers like ourselves. Mahindra cons people and they have been exposed left, right and centre.

Aarush @aarush If you are not going to buy a competent car because of insurance, and the owner goofing up. Then you are not making the right decision "He is responsible for his own mistakes." 1. Why approve the repair when he was not in agreement? 2. Thinking that this big a dealership repair job will result in a factory finish. He is delusional 3. Making a video after everything has happened is only engagement farming

Wow!! Because an owner made a mistake. India is not ready for EVs. "He is responsible for his own mistakes." 1. Why approve the repair when he was not in agreement? 2. Thinking that this big a dealership repair job will result in a factory finish. He is delusional 3. Making a video after everything has happened is only engagement farming

Ferrari Rules There is a lack of knowledge and awareness among the consumers and companies and their salesmen take advantage of that. They themselves know very little of the tech and then they dupe their customer. Why did the surveyor mentioned XUV700 in his report? He did not know about EVs. How can you trust the whole ecosystem then?

He should have reached out to community members on platforms like X. Why did he think that he will be able to do it all alone? All he needed was to ask for help.
Deepak

Suhail Gulati Why should he? Does everyone scream help when claiming insurance? Company and insurer duped him and you are blaming him.

What does this incident have to do with EVs...it's just any car which is crashed badly and not repaired. Painting EV bad in this case shows how immature are the readers of this idiot you tuber
Shubham
Rakesh I think his video's point is that mechanics of these service centers do not themselves know how to repair EVs. They experimented on his car and now they do not want to take ownership of the job they did.

Rakesh Why did the surveyor mention XUV700 in his report then? Because they do not have knowledge regarding EVs. It is easier to scam the customer then. Ecosystem is not only car and charging but everything associated with it and insurance is a part.

Myth 1: "India cannot produce cells or batteries on their own." The Reality: This is significantly outdated. As of 2026, India’s battery manufacturing capacity has surged toward 100 GWh. Major players like Ola Electric have operational Gigafactories (scaling to 20 GWh this year), and the government's PLI-ACC scheme has mandated a 60% domestic value addition for cells. We aren't just "assembling" anymore; we are manufacturing the core chemistry locally. Myth 2: "They do not know how to fix them." The Reality: This targets a specific service gap rather than a national capability. While certain service centers struggle with complex repairs (often leading to "total loss" insurance claims for minor battery casing damage), the industry has matured. Specialized EV repair startups and certified technician programs are now common. The Venom Tech video likely highlights a specific customer service failure, which is a "bad dealership" problem, not a "technology" problem. Myth 3: "Automobile laws are shady and offer little protection." The Reality: Regulations have caught up. The BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) introduced rigorous safety standards (IS 18590 and IS 18606) specifically for EV powertrains and batteries. Furthermore, the Consumer Protection Act is increasingly being used to hold manufacturers accountable for range and safety claims. Myth 4: "Dehradun sits higher than Delhi, doesn't driving towards a lower elevation help EV?" The Reality: This isn't a myth; it's a misunderstanding of physics and trip planning. Going Up (Delhi to Dehradun): Gravity works against you. You use significantly more energy to "climb" the elevation. Coming Down (Dehradun to Delhi): This is where EVs shine. Thanks to Regenerative Braking, the motor acts as a generator, often adding 10-15% of the charge back into the battery. The Charging Issue: If a car needs "multiple charges" for 500km, it's likely being driven at high speeds (above 100 km/h) or in extreme heat, both of which drain batteries faster than the ARAI "lab-tested" range suggests. Myth 5: "Companies hide battery reports; there are no laws for transparency." The Reality: Enter the Battery Pack Aadhaar (BPAN). As of 2026, the Indian government has introduced the Battery Pack Aadhaar Number. This system mandates a Digital Battery Passport. By scanning a QR code, owners can access a portal showing: State of Health (SoH) Charging cycle history Material origin and chemistry The "opacity" the author mentions is being legislated out of existence. Myth 6: "Hybrids are the future; EVs are a mistake." The Reality: Market data disagrees. While hybrids are a great "stop-gap," the Indian government continues to tax them at 43% (GST + Cess), while EVs enjoy a 5% GST rate. EV sales in India grew by 20% in the last year alone, and with the "Total Cost of Ownership" (TCO) now firmly favoring EVs for anyone driving over 30–40km a day, the financial "mistake" is actually sticking with fuel-dependent engines.

Santosh K Bro before posting such content try to fact check using any LLM. Hate EVs? Careful! Community doesn't agree.... Facts can't be hidden.
Deepak

Santosh K I do not need LLM for what is visible with open eyes and mind. Are Tata and Mahindra producing batteries? We all know how Ola is performing. Will the service center allow 3rd party involvement in solving these battery issues? What is the point of these startups then? If you watch the latest video of Venom tech, you will see when coming down from Dehradun to Delhi he gets so much less range. I do not know how it was driven but definitely the temperature cannot be high in February. Ask your AI model to be accurate. Are digital aadhaar for batteries implemented? No, right. What about the lakhs of EVs already running on road? It is better to use own knowledge and not LLM.

His videos only shows that he wasn't ready for an EV and now he's trying to exploit the problem for views
