Kia India has unofficially opened bookings for the Syros EV, taking a token amount of ₹25,000 from interested buyers, according to a report by Autocar India. This will be Kia's second model to make the switch from ICE to EV in India, following the Carens Clavis EV. Dealer sources suggest a launch by the end of July 2026, alongside official confirmation of the car's powertrain details.
None of this has been confirmed by Kia. The company has not announced specifications, pricing, or a launch date. The details below are based on dealer sources and industry reporting, cross-checked against what Kia currently offers on the ICE-powered Syros.
Battery and Range
The Syros EV is expected to use the same battery packs already offered on the Carens Clavis EV: a 42kWh pack for the standard-range version and a larger 51.4kWh pack for the long-range version. Dealer sources indicate ARAI-claimed range figures of around 420km for the smaller battery and 520km for the larger one.
These battery sizes also match those used on the Hyundai Creta Electric, which shares its underlying EV platform with Kia's India lineup. Component sharing across the two brands' EVs would be consistent with how Hyundai and Kia have approached their electric models so far.
The battery is expected to power a front-mounted motor. Power and torque figures have not been disclosed.
Exterior Changes
Kia is expected to give the Syros EV visual changes to differentiate it from the ICE version, in line with how the Carens Clavis EV is styled distinctly from its petrol-diesel counterpart. Expected changes include a unique alloy wheel design, neon-green brake callipers, EV-specific badging, and a mildly revised front fascia. Camouflaged test mules believed to be the Syros EV have already been spotted testing on Indian roads, indicating the car is in an advanced stage of development.

Interior and Features
The cabin layout is expected to largely carry over from the ICE Syros, with a different colour scheme to distinguish the EV variant. On the current ICE Syros, the range-topping trim includes what Kia calls the “Trinity Panoramic Display”, a 12.3-inch touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 5-inch touch-based climate control panel, along with a Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, and second-row seat base ventilation. If the Syros EV mirrors this feature set, as expected, most or all of these features would carry over.
The status of ADAS on the Syros EV remains unclear. Recent reports indicate that ADAS was dropped from the ICE Syros in its MY26 update. Kia's official Syros showroom page, however, currently lists a top-trim variant with Level 2 ADAS and 16 driver-assist features. This discrepancy between recent reporting and Kia's published product information means the ADAS question is unresolved and would need confirmation closer to the EV's launch.
Expected Pricing
Prices for the Syros EV have not been revealed. Based on dealer sources, the range is expected to fall between ₹15–20 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top variant expected to come in under ₹20 lakh. This would mark a significant increase over the ICE Syros, which currently starts at ₹8,41,900 on Kia's official site, reflecting the added cost of the battery and EV-specific hardware. At this price point, the Syros EV would compete with the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor. Kia's Carens Clavis EV, by comparison, currently starts at around ₹18 lakh and goes up to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). This means the Syros EV's entry-level pricing would undercut the Carens Clavis EV, though its top variant, expected to come in just under ₹20 lakh, would likely overlap with the Clavis EV's starting price rather than sit entirely below it. At its lower price points, the Syros EV would still be the most affordable EV in Kia's domestic range, if these estimates hold.
What Remains Unconfirmed
The battery sizes, range figures, pricing, and feature list described above are drawn from dealer sources and pre-launch reporting, not an official Kia announcement. These figures should be treated as estimates until Kia releases confirmed specifications, expected around the car's launch later this month.
