BYD India has increased prices on select electric vehicle variants by ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000. The new prices came into effect from July 1, 2026.
What Has Changed
The price hike applies only to certain variants of three models:
Prices for some ATTO 3 variants and all BYD eMAX 7 variants have not changed.

Why the Prices Went Up
BYD India said the hike was due to rising input costs, ongoing inflation, and continued spending on expanding its dealer network and technology in India.
New Variant Launched
Alongside the price change, the company introduced a new variant, the eMAX 7 Comfort, priced at ₹27.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and fitted with the 71.8 kWh battery pack. The eMAX 7 already comes in four other variants: Premium 6-seater, Premium 7-seater (both with a 55.4 kWh battery), and Superior 6-seater, Superior 7-seater (both with the 71.8 kWh battery). The new Comfort variant slots in between the Premium and Superior trims in terms of pricing.

What BYD India Said
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles Business at BYD India, said the company has seen a strong response from customers across its EV range. He said the price revision reflects the company's ongoing investment in technology, customer experience, and network expansion.
A Pattern of Increases Through 2026
The July hike is not an isolated move. BYD India has adjusted prices upward three separate times this year:
- January 2026: BYD raised the price of a single variant, the SEALION 7 Premium, by ₹50,000, from ₹48.90 lakh to ₹49.40 lakh. The rest of the lineup was left unchanged. BYD did not publicly detail its reasoning for this specific increase.
- May 2026: BYD carried out a wider hike, of up to 3 percent across its model range, attributed at the time to rising input costs and global supply chain uncertainty. Around the same time, on May 13, the company separately announced that a further revision — this time linked to sustained foreign exchange fluctuations, would follow from July 1.
- July 2026: The current round, covering select ATTO 3, SEALION 7, and SEAL variants, priced at an increase of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh, alongside the launch of the eMAX 7 Comfort.
Across these rounds, BYD India has cited a mix of currency movement, input costs, and inflation. The company has not disclosed a full variant-by-variant price list for any of the three revisions; only aggregate ranges and select examples, such as the Sealion 7 Premium, have been made public.
Company Background
BYD's electric vehicle lineup in India uses the company's Blade Battery, Cell-to-Body architecture, and Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control technology. The company has also introduced its DM-i plug-in hybrid technology to India, marking its entry into the domestic hybrid passenger vehicle segment.
BYD India currently operates 48 showrooms across 40 cities. Globally, BYD has sold more than 16.5 million new energy vehicles and describes itself as the world's largest NEV (New Energy Vehicle) manufacturer.
BYD's DM-i Hybrid Technology Enters India
BYD recently showcased its DM-i hybrid system in India for the first time. DM-i (Dual Mode Intelligent) is BYD's plug-in hybrid technology, in production since 2008, with over 8 million units sold worldwide. It runs on an electric-first setup, using the petrol engine mainly to recharge the battery rather than power the wheels directly, and switches between EV, series, parallel, and power-split modes depending on driving conditions. The Seal U will be the first model to bring DM-i to Indian buyers, arriving at a time when battery-only EVs are gaining ground over plug-in hybrids in markets like China, Europe, and the UK.
